ROYSTON IN BLOOM
Why not enter your front garden in our special 2012 celebrations themed competition this year? The Royston in Bloom Committee are asking Royston residents to make a special effort to take part in their annual competition even if they do not normally do so or don’t see themselves as expert gardeners. The judges will be looking for gardens with innovative designs using models, flags, symbols etc and there are lots of ideas and advice on the Town Council and the London 2012 web sites, and special prizes will be awarded for the winners. So please help us to make Royston look festive this year by having a go and celebrate the Queens Jubilee or the Olympics in style!

2012 CELEBRATIONS MURAL

COMMUNITY LEADERS
After another recent telephone conference with London 2012, our 2012 Committee Chair, Lindsay Davidson says, “If after accessing the London 2012 / Local leaders web site, you are thinking of celebrating the Olympic Games in some way for example by inviting your neighbours round for a street barbeque or party of some kind, and want to become a Local Leader in this way, do let us know so that we can tell Royston and London 2012 about it and give you some publicity as a result if you want that. London 2012 are very keen to know just how many people are thinking of doing something on an individual basis in every community apart from the big community events like the ones in our 2012 programme and so are we!” To find out how to become a Community Leader visit our Local Leaders page.
So far over 2,000 people nationally had signed up to be a local leader on their web site and we were given news about upcoming updates for the web site and projects being planned in the run up to the games next year. London 2012 are most impressed with what we are doing here in Royston and commented on how “far ahead of the game” we were here!
